This is an intriguing lot filled with many of the key cards from the decade of the 1970’s, including more than 155 Hall of Famers, along with important cards of stars, All-Stars and specials from nine classic Topps issues. From that grouping of HOFers, fully 132 of the 155 are from the 1970-79 issues, with the remaining two dozen from more-modern sets. The cards are broadly Very Good to Ex-Mt, with some falling above and below the range and the emphasis probably to Excellent; the cards post 1980 are generally Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with the emphasis to the upper end of the range. Cards listed below are the regular-issue version unless otherwise indicated. The lot represents a rare opportunity to pick up many of the key HOF cards needed to launch on filling out several sets of classic Topps years, truly an unusual situation to be able to find so many HOFers from a single decade in one lot. 1970 Topps (28) – The HOF lineup includes Clemente, Yastrzemski (2), Seaver, Gibson, Stargell, Billy Williams, Perry, Carlton, Durocher, Weaver, Wilhelm, Fingers, Rose All-Star and Yastrzemski All-Star; the star grouping includes Allen, Flood, Alou, Kaat, Pinson, Stottlemyre, Dodgers Team and two All-Stars. 1971 Topps (23) – The HOF lineup includes Mays, Aaron, Bench, Rose, Gibson, Ted Williams, Frank Robinson, Kaline, McCovey, Seaver, Bunning and Niekro; the star grouping includes John, Oliva, Piniella, Allen and Tommy Davis. 1972 Topps (46) – The HOF lineup includes Mays, Ryan, Jackson, Marichal, Brock, Perez, Fingers, Torre, Hunter, Williams In Action, Stargell In Action, Rose In Action, Yastrzemski In Action and Killebrew In Action; the star grouping includes Martin, Cash, Oliver, Willie Davis, Veale, Parker, Wood, Lolich, Agee, Beckert, Buckner, Lyle, two Team cards (one is Pirates No. 1 m/c), two Checklists and a League Leader. 1973 Topps (46) – The HOF lineup includes Clemente, Ryan, Yastrzemski, Bench, Rose, Carlton, Munson (2), Gibson, Fisk, Torre, Carew, Williams, Palmer, Morgan, Stargell, Brooks Robinson, Brock, McCovey, Frank Robinson (2), Killebrew, Herzog and Jenkins; the star grouping includes Oliva, Concepcion, Bonds, Oliver, Bell, two League Leaders and three Teams. 1974 Topps (29) – The HOF lineup includes Bench, Yastrzemski, Stargell, Carew, Cepeda, Morgan, Hunter (2), Aparicio, Santo, Perry, Fingers, Weaver, Niekro and Munson; the star grouping includes Evans, Murcer, Richard, Tiant, Cash, Baylor, Lyle, Davis, Concepcion, two Traded and three Washington variations, including Team. 1975 Topps (16) – The HOF lineup includes Yastrzemski, Schmidt, Rose, Carew, Palmer and Munson; the star grouping includes Allen, Lolich, Bonds, Simmons, Kaat, one MVP card and the Yankees Team card. 1976 Topps (39) – The HOF lineup includes Aaron No. 1, Aaron No. 550 (m/c), Yount, Yastrzemski, Jackson, Stargell, McCovey, Winfield, Carter, Perry, Fisk, Williams, Hunter (2), Brooks Robinson, Rice, Perry and Munson; the star grouping includes Lynn, Garvey, Madlock, John, Oliver, Campaneris, Freehan, Blue, three League Leaders, four All-Time All-Stars, an All-Star card, World Series card and a Checklist. 1977 Topps (26) – The HOF lineup includes Yastrzemski (2), Rose, McCovey, Brock, Morgan, Hunter, Winfield, Carter, Niekro, Perez, Fingers and Munson; the star grouping includes Guidry, Marshall, Oliver, Nettles, Luzinski, Cey, Evans, World Series card, All-Time Record, two All-Stars and two League Leaders. 1978 Topps (31) – The HOF lineup includes Yastrzemski (2), Rice, Brett, Yount, Dawson (2), McCovey, Brock, Hunter, Morgan, Eckersley, Jenkins, Weaver, Fisk, Niekro and five (5) Record Breakers – Nos. 1, 4, 4, 5 and 6; the star grouping includes Garvey, Houk, Tanner, four Team cards and two League Leaders. 1979 Topps (12) – The HOF lineup includes Jackson, Stargell, Palmer, Molitor, Murray, Carter, Hunter (2) and Munson; the star grouping includes Lynn Gullett. Additionally, there are five dozen other cards from 1980 and forward, including more than two dozen Hall of Famers, and another two dozen nonsport cards, most of those from the 1966 Rat Patrol issue, plus three McHale’s Navy cards and a Beatles card.
