Here’s yet another outstanding example of the quirky 1974 Topps Deckle Edge issue, this time featuring the great slugger from the 1970s, Jeff Burroughs. The 2 7/8-by-5-inch black-and-white cards were a test issue thought to be limited to the Northeast. The cards feature a blue spot-color facsimile autograph on the front and blue spot-color cursive writing detailing a famous moment, along with a newspaper-like printed entry, on the back. A unique die-cut border gives the edges a scalloped effect, which of course adds significantly to condition sensitivity. The offered card features Burroughs in a sparkling PSA 8 example of this difficult issue; only 11 card have been assessed at this level, with just eight examples higher.
