Presented are a dozen original pen-and-ink drawings from baseball artist T.S. O’Connell, artwork that was used to create a number of card sets that the company produced in the 1980s, including the Baseball Greats and Mini-Prints issues. Additionally, a majority of the entire group encompassing multiple auction lots were used to accompany editorial features in the pages of Sports Collectors Digest from 1987-2011 and in a handful of other hobby publications from 1987-92. This grouping is headlined by the likes of Joe Jackson, Frank Thomas, Nellie Fox, Luis Aparicio, Minnie Minoso, Early Wynn and a number of other stars from different eras, with each one being the original artwork that is signed by the artist. These pieces are typically drawn on 8 ½-by-11-inch heavy board for the pen-and-ink drawings and on a similar-size, high-quality textured poster board for the pencil and lithographer’s crayon pieces, with outliers noted in the listing below. The winning bidder should be aware that owning the original artwork does not convey any rights of reproduction, which are retained by O’Connell & Son Ink. The breakdown (11): 1) Minnie Minoso, 1956 Topps pen and ink, from Series One of the Mini-Prints, 1984; 2) Greg Luzinski, pen and ink, from Series One of the Mini-Prints, 1984; 3) Ron Kittle, pen and ink, from Series Two of the Mini-Prints, 1985; 4) Luis Aparicio, 1961 Topps pen and ink, from Series Two of the Mini-Prints, 1985; 5) Nellie Fox, 1959 Topps Keystone Combo, pen and ink, from Series Three of the Mini-Prints, 1986; 6) Al Lopez, pen and ink, from Series Four of the Mini-Prints, 1987; 7) Early Wynn, pen and ink, from Series Six of the Mini-Prints, 1989; 8) Juan Pizarro, pencil on textured board, from Series Six of the Mini-Prints, 1989; 9) Joe Jackson, brush wash on black poster board, from Series Six of the Mini-Prints, 1989; 10) Frank Thomas, pencil on textured board, from Series Seven of the Mini-Prints, 1991; 11) Ted Kluszewski, 11-by-14-inch scratchboard drawing, from Series Seven of the Mini-Prints, 1991; and 12) Nellie Fox, 1959 Topps from Series Seven of the Mini-Prints, 1991.
