Here is an intriguing grouping of seemingly as-issued crystal-style artifacts created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the only perfect game in more than 100 years of World Series history. Produced by Steiner Sports Memorabilia, the array is headlined by an elegant crystal “baseball” measuring 4 ½ inches in diameter, featuring an etched Larsen facsimile autograph, along with etched edition numbering of 39/50. The baseball is housed in an attractive 5 ½-inch-square presentation box. The box incorporates a cushioned holder and blue-satin cover; the box presents nicely but has some glue separation on two panels. A second element of the lot is another crystal-style cube with 5-by-3 ½-inches dimensions with embedded 1 ¾-inch coin holder housing dirt from “old” Yankee Stadium. Imprinted inside the cube is “Yankee Stadium Inaugural Season 2009,” and a Stadium logo; the cube is housed in a 6 ¼-by-4 ¾-inch box with styling similar to the large crystal baseball; the box presents in Ex-Mt fashion but has a small, ¾-inch tear. The third element is a 2 3/8-inch-square piece with another coin holder embedded with Yankee Stadium dirt, along with the etched Yankee Stadium logo and same-styled presentation box in Near-Mint condition. The lot comes with Don Larsen Private Collection 10-8-56 COA and a pair of Steiner Sports Memorabilia LOAs. In addition, the lot includes a piece not officially part of the group and not pictured, an additional crystal commemorative piece, also numbered 39/50, but excluded and not pictured because one of three crystal prongs is missing.
