Presented is an old-time auction lot of a childhood football card collection, with four dozen Hall of Famers included in the mix along with many stars and Specials. The condition range is fairly typical for a grouping of this description, lesser grades initially then improving over time to the point of sparkling 1962 Topps black borders in high grade and a couple of dozen decently cut examples of the coveted 1962 Post Cereal issue. In addition to the loose cards, a Near-Mint or better 1982 Topps Football set is included in the mix. Here’s the breakdown (213): 1) 1958 Topps (24) – mostly Fair, with Ameche, Bednarik, Blanda, Donovan, McElhenny, Morris, Perry and Renfro, plus Team cards of the Lions and Steelers; 2) 1959 Topps (50) – mostly Good, a few Fair, with 11 Hall of Famers including Layne, Berry, Perry, Mitchell, Lary, Stautner, Groza, Jones, plus seven Teams (five are mk) and Six Pennant cards; 3) 1960 Topps (30) – Good to Very Good, some Fair, with a dozen Hall of Famers, including Gifford, Tittle, Robustelli, Matson, Nomellini, Layne (Excellent), Bednarik (Ex) and Perry; 4) 1961 Topps (44) – Good to Excellent, a few Fair, with Berry, Nomellini (o/c), McDonald (o/c), and Bednarik (m/c); 5) 1962 Topps (40) – Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with a few Ex or VG, including Lane, Robustelli, Mitchell, McElhenny, Jurgensen and Woodson; and 6) 1962 Post Cereal (25) – Ex to Ex-Mt, with some VG, including Meredith, McDonald (Fair), John Henry Johnson, Lane, Stan Jones and Michaels.
