Presented is a cool pair of vintage advertising blotters portraying colorful sports vignettes of Ripley’s famed “Believe It or Not” depictions of record-setting moments of just about every description. In this instance, the records deal with hockey and wrestling, nicely presented in full-color painting at the left side of the 9-by-3 7/8-inch Blotters. The Blotters, both in Very Good condition, bear advertising on the right side for the Wise Insurance Agency in Norton, Virginia, and you know it’s a ways back when your phone number is 366. The first piece depicts Jake Forbes’ Longest Goal, a nifty 200-foot carom engineered in 1949; the second is The Longest Wrestling Match, in Michigan in 1908, with Alf Davey of England and John Shea mixing it up for all of 11 ½ hours.
