The legendary Hall of Famer Tom Seaver is presented here in spectacular original artwork by yet another New York City figure of considerable renown, the painter Robert Stephen Simon. Seaver is portrayed on an imposing 24-by-30-inch oil on canvas painting that depicts the Hall of Famer holding a baseball that has been inscribed with his key stats from the 1971 season, easily one of the greatest of his famed career. As is noted on the baseball in Seaver’s hand, his 1971 campaign included 20 Wins, 289 K’s and an ERA of 1.76. A young Seaver is wearing a Mets jacket with a towel around his neck; a sparkling Seaver autograph is affixed across the towel in blue Sharpie. The original artwork is seemingly in the same condition as when the famed artist finished his final brush stroke. Simon is one of the most prolific baseball artists in the country dating back more than four decades, with works that are instantly recognizable to generations of fans and collectors, including some of the classic prints that have been popular with autograph hounds over the same span.
