Additionally, a majority of the entire group encompassing multiple auction lots were used to accompany editorial features in the pages of Sports Collectors Digest from 1987-2011 and in a handful of other hobby publications from 1987-92. The grouping is headlined by the likes of Willie Mays (three different), Barry Bonds, Willie McCovey, Christy Mathewson, John McGraw, Monte Irvin, Hoyt Wilhelm, Will Clark and others, with each one being the original artwork that is signed by the artist. These pieces are typically drawn on 8 ½-by-11-inch heavy board for the pen-and-ink drawings and on a similar-size, high-quality textured poster board for the pencil and lithographer’s crayon pieces, with outliers noted in the listing below.
