Presented is a highly collectible example of the popular Marx Toys Train Set from the 1950s, an array that includes the engine and nine, high-grade tin cars, along with more than a dozen pieces of track and the transformer. All elements are in truly outstanding condition, right down to the 2 ½-inch-square Transformer; the consignor provided assurances that the train was in working condition after a test several years ago, but we we’re not able to independently verify that claim. Here’s the breakdown of the goodies (cars are pretty uniformly Ex-Mt or better, with outlier noted): 1) Marx Toys 9-inch Engine; 2) New York Central Coal Cars (2) – 7-inch, one is Good with some scratching; 3) Baltimore & Ohio Coal Car, 7 inches; 4) Side-Dump Coal Car, 7 inches; 5) Pennsylvania Railroad Boxcar, 7 inches; 6) Flat Car with Dump Truck, 7 inches; 7) Flat Car with eight pristine wooden barrels, 7 inches; 8) Caboose, 6 inches; 9) Transformer with six-foot cord; and 10) 13 sections of track, several with homemade repairs.
